1840 Musician Sword was originally a shortened version of the 1840 Army NCO sword. Musician sword was made for musicians and it served as a ceremonial weapon during drill and formations.
The musician sword could be used in a fight, but only as a weapon of last resort.

Blade of the musician sword was 26-28" long, the 1840 NCO sword was made with a longer blade (31-32").
